Abraham Bomba

Abraham Bomba (1905-2002) was a Polish-Jewish Holocaust survivor who became one of the most significant witnesses of the Treblinka extermination camp. His renown is linked to the role of barber he was forced to perform inside the camp, where he cut women's hair before they entered the gas chambers. His principal contribution is the powerful testimony he delivered in Claude Lanzmann's 1985 documentary, *Shoah*. The interview, filmed while Bomba was working in a barbershop in Tel Aviv, is considered one of the most harrowing and iconic moments in Holocaust cinema. His recognition does not stem from formal awards but from the universal impact of his testimony in preserving historical memory. Thanks to his firsthand account, he became a crucial figure for understanding the extermination process, and his interview is studied internationally as a fundamental document on the Holocaust.
