Adriana Sivieri
Adriana Sivieri, born in Buenos Aires on June 21, 1918, was an Italian actress, active mainly in post-World War II cinema. Her career was launched through her collaboration with director Giuseppe De Santis, who directed her in his debut film *Caccia tragica* (Tragic Hunt) (1947). The role that brought her international fame was that of the sensual and opportunistic rice-paddy worker in the neorealist masterpiece *Riso amaro* (Bitter Rice) (1949), alongside Silvana Mangano and Vittorio Gassman. Her intense and dramatic performance made her an iconic face of that cinematic era. Her filmography, though not extensive, also includes appearances in films such as Pietro Germi's *Il testimone* (The Witness) (1946) and Giorgio Pàstina's *Vanità* (Vanity) (1947). Despite her notable success, her career was brief and concluded in the early 1950s, when she decided to retire to private life, leaving a significant mark on Italian cinema.
