Alan Tilvern (London, 5 November 1918 – London, 17 December 2003) was a British actor, known for his long and prolific career as a character actor in film and television. His career, which began in the post-war period, saw him play over 150 roles, often as the antagonist or as authoritarian figures, thanks to his strong features and deep voice. Among his most famous performances are his roles as the mogul R.K. Maroon in 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' (1988), the Superintendent in the first 'Superman' (1978), and the manager of the spy ship Liparus in 'The Spy Who Loved Me' (1977). Tilvern was also an accomplished voice actor, lending his voice to numerous characters and working on the English dubbing of many foreign films, particularly from Italian cinema. Although he did not receive major awards, his recognition lies in his constant presence and versatility, which made him a familiar and respected face in British and international cinema for over five decades.
