Aleksander Bardini

Aleksander Bardini (Łódź, 1913 – Warsaw, 1995) was a Polish actor, theatre and film director, and educator, considered one of the most influential figures in 20th-century Polish theatre. His long career was distinguished by a profound intellectual rigor, both in his direction of classical and operatic works and in his role as a professor at the State Higher School of Theatre in Warsaw, where he trained entire generations of actors. Internationally, his fame is primarily linked to his intense film performances, particularly in the films of Krzysztof Kieślowski, such as his role as the elderly professor in *Dekalog* (1989), *The Double Life of Véronique* (1991), and *Three Colours: White* (1994). He also acted in Andrzej Wajda's *Korczak* (1990). For his exceptional contribution to national culture, he was awarded numerous prestigious Polish state honors throughout his life.
