Ali Djamali
Ali Djamali (Tehran, 1957) is an Iranian-born, Italian-naturalized painter. He moved to Italy in 1979, where he completed his artistic training, graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. His painting is characterized by a symbolic and dreamlike language, in which the human figure and nature merge into suspended, metaphysical atmospheres. His works explore themes such as identity, memory, and the dialogue between different cultures, often through an evocative use of color and pictorial matter.
Throughout his career, he has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally, establishing himself as a significant voice in contemporary art. Among his major recognitions is his participation in the 54th Venice Biennale in 2011, where he exhibited in the Italian Pavilion. He also won the prestigious 53rd Michetti Prize in 2001, an achievement that consolidated his position in the Italian art scene. His artistic work continues to be the subject of critical interest and exhibitions in major galleries and cultural institutions.
