Alice Pearce was an American actress, known for her comedic roles and her distinctive stage presence. She reprised her role in the 1949 film adaptation and appeared in other films such as *The Opposite Sex* (1957) and *The Glass Bottom Boat* (1966), released posthumously. However, the role that established her with the general public was that of Gladys Kravitz, the nosy and inquisitive neighbor in the popular television series *Bewitched*, beginning in 1964.
