Alice Pearce was an American actress, known for her comedic roles and her distinctive stage presence. Her career took off on Broadway, where she achieved success with the musical *On the Town* in 1944. She reprised her role in the 1949 film adaptation and appeared in other films such as *The Opposite Sex* (1957) and *The Glass Bottom Boat* (1966), released posthumously. However, the role that established her with the general public was that of Gladys Kravitz, the nosy and inquisitive neighbor in the popular television series *Bewitched*, beginning in 1964. For this performance, Pearce posthumously won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 1966. She died of ovarian cancer during the show's second season, cementing her legacy as one of the most beloved character actresses of the small screen.
