Allen Joseph is an American computer scientist and professor at the University of California, Berkeley, known for his fundamental contributions to the fields of distributed systems and computer security. His career is marked by significant influence in both academia and industry. He is one of the co-creators of Apache Mesos, an open-source cluster manager designed for large-scale workload orchestration. Based on this project, he co-founded the company Mesosphere (now D2iQ), where he served as Chief Technology Officer, bringing his academic research to a successful commercial application for managing data centers and cloud infrastructures. In addition to his work on Mesos, his research has focused on network security and the development of infrastructures for cybersecurity experimentation, such as the DETERLab project.
