Aminata Sow Fall, born in Saint-Louis, Senegal, in 1941, is one of the most important French-speaking African writers and a pioneering figure in sub-Saharan literature. After studying at the Sorbonne, she made her debut in 1976 with the novel *Le Revenant*, becoming one of the first female authors from Black Africa to be published by a major French publishing house. Her most celebrated work is *La Grève des bàttu* (1979), a powerful social satire on begging that earned her the Grand Prix littéraire d'Afrique noire in 1980 and remains a classic of contemporary African literature. Her literary output also includes notable novels such as *L'Appel des arènes* (1982) and *L'Ex-père de la nation* (1987), which explore the conflict between tradition and modernity and the critique of power. For her overall contribution to literature and the French language, she was awarded the prestigious Grand Prix de la Francophonie by the Académie française in 2015, consolidating her status as a literary figure of international stature.
