Andrew Russell Garfield is an American and British actor. He began his career on stage in the United Kingdom, earning his first major recognition with the television film *Boy A* (2007), for which he won a BAFTA. His international breakthrough came in 2010 with roles in *The Social Network*, which earned him Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations, and *Never Let Me Go*. He achieved global fame by playing Peter Parker / Spider-Man in *The Amazing Spider-Man* (2012) and its sequel. His subsequent career has been marked by acclaimed performances, including his performance in the war film *Hacksaw Ridge* (2016), for which he received his first Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. Also active in theatre, he won a Tony Award for his performance in *Angels in America* on Broadway.
