Antonio Prieto

Antonio Prieto (Aspe, February 2, 1902 – Madrid, February 4, 1965) was a Spanish stage and screen actor. He began his career on stage in the 1920s, establishing himself as a solid performer before making his film debut. His international fame is inextricably linked to the role of Silvanito, the innkeeper, in Sergio Leone's film "A Fistful of Dollars" (1964), where he acted alongside Clint Eastwood. Although this is his most celebrated role, his filmography includes over fifty films, primarily in Spanish cinema. One of his most significant performances was in the film "El Lazarillo de Tormes" (1959), which earned him the Sindicato Nacional del Espectáculo Award for Best Supporting Actor. He also worked with other Italian directors, including Mario Bava in "The Girl Who Knew Too Much" (1963). His career was cut short by his death, which occurred shortly after he achieved worldwide recognition.
