Arabella Lemaitre
Arabella Lemaitre, born in Cartagena de Indias, is a Colombian artist known for her work in painting and sculpture. Trained in Plastic Arts at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, she developed a distinctive artistic language early in her career. Her work explores deeply personal themes such as memory, the body, the passage of time, and the fragility of existence. A characteristic of her practice is the use of unconventional materials, including textiles, threads, and personal objects, which she integrates into her canvases through sewing and embroidery. This approach is evident in significant series such as "El Hilo de la Vida," where the act of mending symbolizes the reconstruction of memories and lived experiences. Her work has been widely exhibited in major galleries and museums, both in Colombia and internationally, earning critical acclaim and participation in prestigious exhibitions like the Salón Nacional de Artistas, consolidating her as one of the leading figures of contemporary art in her country.
