Aurélien Recoing

Born in Paris in 1958, Aurélien Recoing is a French actor of profound intensity and remarkable stage presence, son of the famous director and puppeteer Alain Recoing. Trained at the prestigious Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique, he began his career mainly in theater, becoming a favorite actor for avant-garde directors such as Antoine Vitez and also working under the direction of Luc Bondy. Although the stage remained a constant, he was discovered by the international public in 2001 thanks to his extraordinary and tormented performance in Laurent Cantet's L'Emploi du temps (Time Out), in which he plays a man who builds a fictitious life to hide his unemployment. Since then, he has rigorously alternated between arthouse cinema, popular films, and television, distinguishing himself in works such as Patrice Chéreau's Intimacy, Abdellatif Kechiche's Blue is the Warmest Color, João César Monteiro's Souvenirs de la maison jaune, and acclaimed series such as The Bureau. His filmography is marked by complex roles that explore the gray areas of morality and the human psyche, establishing him as one of the most solid and respected faces in French cinema.
