Axel Strøbye (1928-2005) was a Danish actor with a long and versatile career that spanned film, television, and theatre. He is known to international audiences primarily for his comedic role as Police Inspector Jensen in the popular *Olsen-banden* film series. However, his filmography also includes powerful dramatic performances in works by acclaimed directors, such as Carl Theodor Dreyer's *Gertrud* (1964). Also active on stage for decades, he was a prominent figure at the Royal Danish Theatre.
