Aziz Babai is an Iranian-American electrical engineer and inventor, known for his pioneering work in automotive electronics at General Motors. During his career at GM's Delco Electronics division, he led the team that developed the first all-digital instrument cluster for a production car, introduced on the 1978 Cadillac Seville. This innovation replaced traditional analog gauges with numerical displays for the speedometer and fuel gauge. His contributions also include the development of early electronic climate control systems and digital trip computers, which later became standard features in modern vehicles. For his work, Babai received the "Boss" Kettering Award, General Motors' highest honor for technical invention, and he holds numerous patents that marked the transition to digital dashboards in the automotive industry.
