Bahattin Serter
Bahattin Serter, born in Eskişehir in 1951, is a renowned Turkish artist and ceramist, and a leading figure in contemporary ceramic art. His career is closely linked to academia, as he served as a professor and was the founder of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Anadolu University, where he has trained generations of artists. His artistic work is known for monumental sculptures and large ceramic panels designed for public spaces, which merge traditional Anatolian techniques, such as those of the Hittites and Seljuks, with a modern, abstract aesthetic. His works, characterized by organic forms and complex textures, explore the relationship between nature and culture. For his significant contribution to Turkish art, he has received numerous international awards, including prizes at prestigious competitions such as the Vallauris International Biennial of Ceramic Art in France and the Faenza International Competition of Contemporary Ceramic Art in Italy. In 1991, he was awarded the title of State Artist of Turkey, his country's highest artistic honor.
