Barry Corbin

Barry Corbin (born Leonard Barrie Corbin, 1940) is a prolific and beloved American character actor, whose six-decade career is defined by his unmistakable Texan presence. With his iconic bald head, thick mustache, and a distinct Southern drawl, Corbin has become the archetype of the gruff authority figure, the principled military man, or the wise Westerner. Although his filmography is vast, including memorable roles like General Beringer in WarGames (1983) and Uncle Bob in Urban Cowboy (1980), his most famous role remains that of Maurice Minnifield, the retired astronaut and local magnate in the cult series Northern Exposure, for which he earned two Emmy nominations. A classically trained Shakespearean actor, Corbin continues to be a fundamental face in American film and television, appearing in series like The Ranch and Yellowstone.
