Ben Vereen is an American actor, dancer, and singer whose career spans stage, television, and film. He rose to prominence on Broadway in the early 1970s, earning a Tony Award nomination for his portrayal of Judas in *Jesus Christ Superstar* (1972). The following year, he won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his iconic role as the Leading Player in the celebrated show *Pippin* (1973), directed by Bob Fosse. His fame grew further through television, where he received an Emmy Award nomination for his role as "Chicken" George Moore in the acclaimed miniseries *Roots* (1977). His other significant works include the film *All That Jazz* (1979), also directed by Fosse, and several Golden Globe nominations.
