
Bengt Eklund
Nils Bengt Folke Eklund (Stockholm, 18 January 1925 – Stockholm, 19 January 1998) was a Swedish theatre, film, and television actor. Trained at the Royal Dramatic Theatre (Dramaten) school in Stockholm, he became a prominent figure in the Swedish theatre scene, working regularly at this prestigious institution for much of his career. His international fame is primarily linked to his collaborations with director Ingmar Bergman, who cast him in the male lead role of Harry in the iconic film *Summer with Monika* (1953). He later appeared in other Bergman films such as *Shame* (1968) and *The Rite* (1969). His prolific career includes over one hundred appearances in film and television productions, including the popular series *Hemsöborna*. For his significant contribution to theatre, in 1979 he was awarded the prestigious O'Neill-stipendiet, one of the most prestigious theatre awards in Sweden.
