Benito Stefanelli
Benito Stefanelli (Rome, September 2, 1928 – Rome, December 18, 1999) was an Italian actor, stuntman, and weapons master, a multifaceted and pivotal figure in genre cinema. His career, spanning over four decades, is inextricably linked to the Spaghetti Western and particularly to his collaboration with Sergio Leone. For the director, he worked as a character actor, stunt coordinator, and armorer on all the films of the "Dollars Trilogy" and on "Once Upon a Time in the West." Thanks to his excellent command of English, he often acted as an interpreter and intermediary on set between Leone and the American actors, including Clint Eastwood. Specializing in roles as an antagonist or henchman, his face became one of the most recognizable in the genre. In addition to westerns, he worked extensively in peplum (sword-and-sandal), crime, and adventure films, participating in more than 150 productions and establishing himself as one of the most prolific and respected professionals in Italian popular cinema, though he never achieved starring roles.
