
Brent Briscoe
Brent Briscoe (Moberly, May 21, 1961 – Los Angeles, October 18, 2017) was an American actor and screenwriter. A noted character actor, his career is closely linked to his long collaboration with Billy Bob Thornton, with whom he wrote the stage play and short film that were adapted into the film *Sling Blade* (1996), in which he played the memorable role of Doyle Hargraves. His filmography includes significant appearances in acclaimed films such as Sam Raimi's *A Simple Plan* (1998), *The Green Mile* (1999), and David Lynch's *Mulholland Drive* (2001). His versatility also led him to work in prominent television productions; his best-known roles include the recurring part of JJ in the sitcom *Parks and Recreation* and one of his final performances as Detective Dave Macklay in the 2017 series *Twin Peaks: The Return*. He did not receive any major individual awards, but his contribution was crucial to numerous works acclaimed by critics and audiences.
