
Bryan Fogel
Bryan Fogel is an American director, producer, and playwright, known for his investigative documentaries. He began his career as the co-author of the play *Jewtopia*, which he later adapted into a film. His global breakthrough came with the 2017 documentary *Icarus*. In the film, Fogel explores the world of sports doping by personally undergoing a performance-enhancing drug program, but the investigation turns into an exposé of the Russian state-sponsored doping scandal thanks to the revelations of whistleblower Grigory Rodchenkov. The work earned him the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 2018. In 2020, he directed *The Dissident*, an investigation into the assassination of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. This film also received critical acclaim and several accolades, including a BAFTA nomination and a Writers Guild of America Award, solidifying his reputation as a filmmaker of high-impact political and social cinema-verité.
