
Carey Loftin
Carey Loftin (1914-1997) was an American stuntman, stunt coordinator, and actor, considered one of the greatest and most influential stunt drivers in film history. His career, which began in the 1930s and spanned over sixty years, saw him specialize in complex and dangerous stunts involving cars and motorcycles. He is best known for driving the menacing truck in Steven Spielberg's film *Duel* (1971) and the Dodge Charger in the iconic car chase from *Bullitt* (1968), against Steve McQueen's Ford Mustang. His countless credits also include the action sequences for *The French Connection*, *Diamonds Are Forever*, and *Grand Prix*. In addition to performing stunts, he often played small character roles, usually as a driver. For his fundamental contribution to the film industry, he was inducted into the Stuntmen's Hall of Fame.
