Carl Studer, born in Basel in 1978, is a Swiss cinematographer. Trained at the prestigious FAMU academy in Prague, he has spent much of his career in Italy, establishing himself with a rigorous and poetic stylistic signature, often characterized by the use of natural light and painterly compositions. His filmography includes notable collaborations with directors such as Urszula Antoniak (*Beyond Words*), Andrés Goteira (*Dhogs*), Giuseppe Piccioni (*The Shadow of the Day*), and Giorgio Diritti (*Lubo*). His talent has been widely acclaimed by critics, earning him numerous awards. Among the most significant are the David di Donatello for Best Cinematography in 2022 for *The Shadow of the Day* and the Nastro d'Argento in 2024 for *Lubo*, as well as several Swiss Film Awards, which establish him as one of the most significant figures in contemporary European cinema.
