Carlo Chionetti

Carlo Chionetti (Cuorgnè, 1898 – Rivarolo Canavese, 1978) was an Italian ceramist, painter, and sculptor, and a prominent figure in the field of twentieth-century decorative arts. His career is inextricably linked to the Lenci manufactory in Turin, where he served as artistic director from 1928 to 1934. During this period, he created some of his most celebrated works, including the iconic Art Deco-style female figurines, vases, and decorative objects that defined the style of the Turin-based company. Subsequently, in 1935, he founded his own manufactory in Rivarolo Canavese, C.A.S.A. (Ceramiche Artistiche S. Andrea), where he continued his artistic production, ranging from secular subjects to sacred art, such as his well-known Stations of the Cross. His work received significant international recognition, with participation in events such as the Venice Biennale and the Milan Triennale, and he won the Grand Prix at the 1937 Paris International Exposition. Today, his ceramics are sought after by collectors and can be found in numerous museums.
