Catinca Untaru is a Romanian actress, known internationally for her debut role in the 2006 cult film *The Fall*, directed by Tarsem Singh. At the age of eight, she portrayed the character of Alexandria, a young patient in a 1920s Los Angeles hospital who forms a bond with another patient, played by Lee Pace. Her performance was widely praised for its spontaneity and naturalness, largely because many of her scenes were improvised, as her command of English was limited at the time of filming. For this performance, Untaru won the 2008 Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor and received a nomination from the Chicago Film Critics Association for Most Promising Performer. Her subsequent career was very brief, including only an appearance in the 2008 anthology film *Toronto Stories*, after which she retired from acting.
