Cecil Parker, born Cecil Schwabe (Hastings, 3 September 1897 – Brighton, 20 April 1971), was a prolific British character actor whose career spanned five decades. After beginning his career on stage, he transitioned to film in the 1930s, specializing in roles as authoritarian figures, pompous aristocrats, or gruff, easily flustered characters. His filmography includes memorable performances in classics such as Alfred Hitchcock's *The Lady Vanishes* (1938) and in Ealing Studios comedies, including *The Man in the White Suit* (1951) and *The Ladykillers* (1955). He demonstrated notable versatility in international productions such as *Caesar and Cleopatra* (1945) and in the Italian film *We Still Kill the Old Way* (1967) by Elio Petri. For his contribution to the dramatic arts, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1958, a testament to his status as an esteemed and recognizable actor of 20th-century cinema and theatre.
