Chang Kuo-Chu (張國柱; born October 17, 1948) is a Taiwanese actor. With a career spanning over four decades, he is one of the most respected figures in Taiwanese cinema and television. He made his debut in the late 1970s, gaining recognition with films such as *The Story of a Racetrack* (1979). His most internationally acclaimed performance is arguably that of the protagonist's father in Edward Yang's masterpiece *A Brighter Summer Day* (1991), where he acted alongside his son, future actor Chang Chen. Throughout his long career, he has demonstrated great versatility, playing complex roles in numerous dramas, thrillers, and television productions. He has received several accolades for his work. In 2007, he won the Golden Bell Award for Best Actor in a Miniseries for *The Taste of Papaya*. He has also been nominated multiple times for the prestigious Golden Horse Awards, consolidating his status as a leading actor in Chinese-language cinema.
