Charles Butterworth
Charles Butterworth (1896-1946) was an American comic actor, known for his distinctive portrayal of lovable yet befuddled and absent-minded characters. He began his career on Broadway before moving to Hollywood at the beginning of the sound era, where he became a popular character actor thanks to his hesitant acting style and his ability to portray inept aristocrats. He appeared in numerous successful films of the 1930s and 1940s, including *Love Me Tonight* (1932), *Magnificent Obsession* (1935), *Topper Returns* (1941), and *This Is the Army* (1943). Although he almost never played leading roles, his distinctive persona made him a memorable and appreciated presence on the big screen. For his contribution to the film industry, he was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His career was tragically cut short following a car accident in 1946.
