
Charles Cyphers
Charles George Cyphers (Niagara Falls, July 28, 1939 – Tucson, August 4, 2024) was an American actor, best known for his prolific collaboration with director John Carpenter. His career is inextricably linked to the role of Sheriff Leigh Brackett in the cult horror film *Halloween* (1978), a character he reprised both in the sequel *Halloween II* (1981) and, forty years later, in *Halloween Kills* (2021). His artistic partnership with Carpenter also includes appearances in films such as *Assault on Precinct 13* (1976), *The Fog* (1980), and *Escape from New York* (1981). In addition to film, Cyphers had a long and varied television career, appearing as a guest star in numerous successful series. A versatile and reliable character actor, he was often cast to portray authority figures, and his contribution to the horror genre earned him lasting recognition as an icon among fans.
