Chieko Nakakita (1926-2005) was a Japanese actress, primarily active in the postwar period and closely associated with Toho Studio. She is best known for her collaborations with director Akira Kurosawa, appearing in significant roles in films such as *One Wonderful Sunday* (1947), *Drunken Angel* (1948), *Stray Dog* (1949), and *Ikiru* (1952). Her career also includes a notable role in Yasujirō Ozu's film *The Flavor of Green Tea over Rice* (1952), a testament to her versatility. Specializing in supporting roles, she effectively portrayed ordinary women and female figures who reflected the transformations of Japanese society. Although she did not win any major individual awards, her recognition lies in her consistent and memorable presence in fundamental works of classic Japanese cinema, which established her as one of the most reliable and respected character actresses of her generation.
