Christine Noonan

Christine Noonan (8 March 1945 – 6 August 2003) was a British actress, primarily known for her iconic role as the girl in the 1968 cult film *If....*, directed by Lindsay Anderson. In the film, she portrayed an enigmatic and rebellious figure, the only significant female presence, who becomes a symbol of freedom for the protagonist, Mick Travis, played by Malcolm McDowell. She briefly reprised the same character in Anderson's subsequent film, *O Lucky Man!* (1973). Her film career also includes a role in Ken Russell's controversial *The Devils* (1971) and appearances in British television productions. Although her acting career was relatively brief, her face remains inextricably linked to the international success of *If....*, which won the Palme d'Or at the 1969 Cannes Film Festival, cementing her image in cinema history. She later stepped away from acting to dedicate herself to teaching.
