Claude Mansard

Claude Mansard, the stage name of Claude Tissier (Saint-Germain-en-Laye, March 5, 1924 – Paris, February 26, 1967), was a French actor. Specializing in supporting roles, he became a recurring and well-regarded figure in French cinema of the 1950s and 1960s, known for his ability to portray authoritarian, bourgeois, or civil servant characters. His career is linked to numerous highly successful films, with notable appearances in *La Traversée de Paris* (1956) by Claude Autant-Lara; *Le Président* (1961) and *Un singe en hiver* (1962), both directed by Henri Verneuil and alongside Jean Gabin; and the cult film *Les Tontons flingueurs* (1963) by Georges Lautner. Despite never playing leading roles, he earned solid recognition from critics and the public for his reliability and screen presence, collaborating with the foremost actors and directors of the era, such as Lino Ventura and Bernard Blier. His promising career was prematurely cut short by his death at the age of 42.
