
Cliff Gorman
Cliff Gorman (New York, October 13, 1936 – New York, September 5, 2002) was an American actor, best known for his stage work. His career was launched by the role of Emory in the original off-Broadway production of *The Boys in the Band* (1968), a performance that earned him an Obie Award and that he reprised in the 1970 film adaptation. His greatest Broadway success was his portrayal of comedian Lenny Bruce in the play *Lenny*, for which he won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play in 1972. In film, his most significant roles include those in Bob Fosse's *All That Jazz* (1979), where he played a charismatic and unreliable actor, and *An Unmarried Woman* (1978). His career was distinguished by the intensity of his performances and his ability to bring complex and tormented characters to life, both on stage and on screen.
