Daniel Mesguich is a French actor, director, and theatre theorist, born in Algiers on July 15, 1952. Trained at the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique (CNSAD) in Paris, where he later taught and served as director, he founded his own company, the Théâtre du Miroir. His career is defined by an intellectual and deconstructionist reinterpretation of the great classics, particularly those of Shakespeare, Racine, and Molière, with a style that combines Baroque aesthetics and textual analysis. His multiple productions of *Hamlet* are considered emblematic of his approach. He has directed major institutions such as the Théâtre Gérard-Philipe in Saint-Denis and the Théâtre national de Lille. In addition to directing and acting, he is the author of several essays on theatre. For his contribution to French culture, he has been awarded prestigious honours, including Officer of the Legion of Honour and Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters.
