Ichikawa Danko V, born Masaaki Kagawa on January 16, 2004, is a Japanese kabuki actor. Son of actor Teruyuki Kagawa (Ichikawa Chūsha IX) and grandson of Ichikawa En'ō II, he belongs to the prestigious Omodakaya guild. He made his official stage debut (hatsubutai) in June 2012 at the Shinbashi Enbujō, simultaneously assuming the stage name Ichikawa Danko V. His career is primarily associated with the innovative productions of Super Kabuki II, a modern style of the genre. He gained widespread national recognition in 2023 when he replaced Ichikawa Ennosuke IV in the lead role of Monkey D. Luffy in the kabuki adaptation of "One Piece." His performance, lauded for its energy and maturity, received unanimous critical acclaim, solidifying his position as one of the rising stars of his generation in the world of kabuki. His other notable roles include Oguri Hangan in the play "Oguri."
