Daria Nicolodi (Florence, June 19, 1950 – Rome, November 26, 2020) was an Italian actress and screenwriter, an iconic figure in genre cinema. She achieved international fame in 1975 as the star of *Profondo Rosso* (*Deep Red*), a film that marked the beginning of her artistic and personal partnership with director Dario Argento. For Argento, she was not only a memorable performer in films such as *Tenebre*, *Phenomena*, and *Opera*, but also a fundamental creative collaborator. She co-wrote the story for *Suspiria* (1977), one of her most celebrated contributions, and conceived the story for *Inferno*. Her career also includes important collaborations with other masters, including Mario Bava on *Shock* (1977), a role for which she received a Nastro d'Argento nomination. In subsequent years, she continued to work in film and television productions, collaborating again with Argento on *The Mother of Tears* (2007), alongside her daughter Asia Argento. She is universally recognized as one of the most important "scream queens" and a key author of Italian thriller and horror.
