David Byrne

David Byrne, born in Dumbarton, Scotland, on May 14, 1952, is a multifaceted artist, best known as the co-founder and frontman of the new wave band Talking Heads. With the band, active from 1975 to 1991, he redefined the boundaries of rock music, exploring funk and world music on seminal albums such as *Remain in Light* and in the concert film *Stop Making Sense*. His solo career is equally eclectic, marked by innovative collaborations like the album *My Life in the Bush of Ghosts* with Brian Eno, and by the founding of the record label Luaka Bop. A visual artist, film director, and author, he directed the film *True Stories* and created acclaimed theatrical shows, including the Broadway hit *American Utopia*. Among his many accolades, he has won an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and a Grammy Award for the soundtrack to the film *The Last Emperor* (1987), and in 2002, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Talking Heads.
