David Manners, born Rauff de Ryther Duan Acklom (Halifax, April 30, 1900 – Santa Barbara, December 23, 1998), was a Canadian-American actor, best known for his roles in horror films of the early 1930s. He achieved international fame playing the male lead Jonathan Harker in the classic *Dracula* (1931) alongside Bela Lugosi. He solidified his status in the genre with the role of Frank Whemple in *The Mummy* (1932), opposite Boris Karloff, and appeared in other successful films such as *The Black Cat* (1934) and the drama *A Bill of Divorcement* (1932), with Katharine Hepburn. Despite being a highly sought-after actor, Manners retired from the screen at the end of the decade to dedicate himself to writing, publishing several novels and philosophical works. For his significant contribution to the motion picture industry, he was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
