David Cecil MacAlister Tomlinson (1917-2000) was a British actor, renowned for his performances in films produced by Walt Disney Pictures. His career, which began in British theatre and cinema, saw him specialize in character roles, often portraying figures of the English upper class with a comedic and authoritarian touch. He achieved international fame with the role of the stern but affectionate banker George Banks in *Mary Poppins* (1964), a performance that became iconic. His collaboration with Disney continued successfully, playing the antagonist Peter Thorndyke in *The Love Bug* (1968) and the self-proclaimed magician Emelius Browne in *Bedknobs and Broomsticks* (1971). Through these roles, he became one of the most recognizable faces in family cinema of the 1960s and 1970s. For his significant contribution, he was posthumously named a Disney Legend in 2002, the highest honor bestowed by The Walt Disney Company.
