**Deborah Kerr** (Helensburgh, Scotland, 1921 – Botesdale, England, 2007) was a Scottish actress who became a naturalized British citizen and a Hollywood icon. Known for her elegance and sophistication, and although often labeled the "English Rose," Kerr demonstrated remarkable versatility, excelling in complex roles that concealed passion and vulnerability behind an apparent composure.
Her most celebrated performances include the tormented nun in *Black Narcissus* (1947), the passionate Karen Holmes in *From Here to Eternity* (1953) – which earned her one of her six Academy Award nominations – and the elegant Anna Leonowens in the musical *The King and I* (1956).
