
Del Henney
Del Henney (born Derek Henney; 24 July 1935 – 14 December 2019) was a British actor. He is best known for his memorable and controversial role as Charlie Venner in Sam Peckinpah's psychological thriller *Straw Dogs* (1971). His career, which began in the 1960s, was characterized by portrayals of tough and complex characters. He appeared in numerous successful British television series, including *Z-Cars*, *The Naked Civil Servant*, *The Sweeney*, and *Doctor Who*. In film, he also acted alongside Richard Burton in *Villain* (1971) and had a leading role in the TV series *Fallen Hero* (1978). Although he never received major awards, Henney was a well-respected character actor, valued for his intense screen presence and his ability to bring ambiguous and menacing figures to life, becoming a recognizable face in British film and television of his time.
