Denise Péronne
Denise Péronne (1920-1978) was a French theater and film actress. Born in Hanoi, in what was then French Indochina, she dedicated her career primarily to the stage. She joined the prestigious Comédie-Française in 1955, becoming its 439th *sociétaire* in 1964 and being named *sociétaire honoraire* in 1977, a year before her death. In theater, she was distinguished by her versatility, performing a vast repertoire that ranged from the classics of Molière and Marivaux to modern playwrights such as Jean Giraudoux. Concurrently, she pursued a significant film career, appearing in over thirty films. Among her most notable roles on the big screen are her performances in films such as *Le Tatoué* (1968) by Denys de La Patellière, alongside Jean Gabin and Louis de Funès, and the acclaimed *Murmur of the Heart* (1971) by Louis Malle. Her career is recognized for the professional rigor and elegant stage presence that made her a leading figure in the post-war French theatrical landscape.
