Dennis Weaver (1924-2006) was an American actor. Although well-known for television roles such as Chester in *Gunsmoke* and Marshal McCloud, his film career also featured significant roles.
His most iconic big-screen role is undoubtedly David Mann in Steven Spielberg's TV movie **Duel** (1971). In it, he masterfully portrayed an ordinary man under psychological siege from a mysterious truck, demonstrating his versatility in the thriller genre and his ability to carry an entire film by himself.
Other notable film appearances include **Touch of Evil** (1958) and **Birdman of Alcatraz** (1962).
