Trained at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), she began her film career in the late 1950s, gaining visibility with roles in films such as the war film *Ice Cold in Alex* (1958). Her fame is primarily linked to horror films for Hammer Film Productions, for which she played iconic roles such as the protagonist Sylvia in *The Plague of the Zombies* (1966) and a lady-in-waiting in *The Gorgon* (1964). Her filmography also includes appearances in notable works such as Robert Wise's psychological horror classic *The Haunting* (1963). Also active on the small screen, she appeared in popular television series of the era, including *The Avengers* and *The Saint*.
