Dieter Schidor
Dieter Schidor (1948-1987) was a German actor, producer, and director, a prominent figure of the New German Cinema. Best known for his intense collaborations with Rainer Werner Fassbinder, he acted in iconic films such as *Querelle de Brest*, *Lili Marleen*, and *The Marriage of Maria Braun*. His career also includes appearances in works by international directors such as Sam Peckinpah (*Cross of Iron*) and Wolfgang Petersen, for whose film *Die Konsequenz* he received the Deutscher Filmpreis (German Film Award) for Best Actor. As a producer, he contributed significantly to the production of *Querelle*. Turning to directing, he directed the documentary *The Wizard of Babylon*, a posthumous tribute to Fassbinder, and adapted Jean Genet's *The Maids* (*Die Zofen*) for the screen. His prolific career was cut short by his death from AIDS at the age of 39.
