
Dominique Davray
Dominique Davray, born Marie-Louise Gournay (Paris, 27 January 1919 – Paris, 16 August 1998), was a French actress and an emblematic figure in supporting roles in French cinema. Active for over four decades, from the 1940s to the 1980s, she built a prolific career portraying with great verve a wide range of common character types such as prostitutes, concierges, shopkeepers, and waitresses. Her filmography includes notable titles such as Jacques Becker's *Casque d'Or* (1952), where she played Leca's mistress. She also appeared in Georges Lautner's *Les Tontons flingueurs* (1963), Jean Delannoy's *Maigret et l'Affaire Saint-Fiacre* (1959), and the highly successful comedy *Le Gendarme de Saint-Tropez* (1964) by Jean Girault. In addition to film, she was also active in theatre. Although she did not win major awards, her face became familiar to and appreciated by the general public, consolidating her status as an indispensable and highly talented character actress in the French cinematic landscape.
