Don Beddoe
Donald T. Beddoe (1888–1979) was a prolific American character actor whose career spanned over five decades across theater, film, and television. After beginning his career on the Broadway stage, he moved to Hollywood, becoming one of the most familiar supporting faces of classic American cinema. He is particularly known for his numerous collaborations with director Frank Capra, who directed him in iconic films such as *Mr. Smith Goes to Washington* (1939), *Meet John Doe* (1941), and *It's a Wonderful Life* (1946). His extensive filmography includes over 250 appearances, in which he versatilely portrayed figures such as ordinary citizens, businessmen, or bureaucrats. With the advent of television, he also worked extensively for the small screen, appearing in countless successful series. Although he did not win any major individual awards, his significant contribution to the entertainment industry is evidenced by his role as a founding member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG).
