Donald Webster

Donald G. Webster (1922-1961) was an American writer and soldier, known for his service as a private in Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division during World War II. He took part in crucial operations such as the Normandy landings and Operation Market Garden, where he was wounded. Due to his injury, he did not participate in the Battle of the Bulge but rejoined his unit for the final stages of the conflict. After the war, he wrote the memoir *Parachute Infantry*, published posthumously in 1994 through the efforts of historian Stephen E. Ambrose. The work is recognized for offering an intellectual and sometimes critical perspective on the life of a soldier at the front, distinguishing itself from other accounts. He and his writings gained widespread recognition through the miniseries *Band of Brothers*, which used his memoirs as a primary source to chronicle the company's story.
