
Doru Ana
Doru Ana (February 28, 1954 – October 11, 2022) was a Romanian actor and university professor, a prominent figure in his country's theatre and cinema. After graduating in 1980 from the "I.L. Caragiale" Institute of Theatre and Cinematographic Arts in Bucharest, he embarked on a prolific stage career, performing in over fifty productions, notably at the Bulandra Theatre. Concurrently, he pursued a significant academic career as a professor of acting at his alma mater (UNATC), training generations of actors. His film career was equally remarkable, with more than forty film credits. He is internationally known for his roles in key works of the Romanian New Wave, including Cristi Puiu's *The Death of Mr. Lăzărescu* (2005), and Cristian Mungiu's *Occident* (2002) and *4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days* (2007). Praised for his versatility and his ability to portray complex and authentic characters, he received several awards throughout his career, including from the Romanian Filmmakers Union (UCIN).
