
Douglas Fairbanks Jr.
Douglas Fairbanks Jr. (1909-2000) was an American actor, producer, and decorated naval officer. The son of the silent film legend, he began his career at a very young age, managing to emerge from his father's shadow and build a solid reputation in sound films. He became known for his charismatic roles in adventure films and romantic dramas, demonstrating great versatility. His most memorable performances include classics such as *The Prisoner of Zenda* (1937), as Rupert of Hentzau, *Gunga Din* (1939), and *Sinbad the Sailor* (1947). During World War II, he interrupted his career to serve in the United States Navy, earning numerous decorations for his valor, including the Silver Star and the Legion of Merit. For his commitment to strengthening Anglo-American relations, in 1949 he was appointed an Honorary Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE). His long and influential career is commemorated by three stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
